It all started when...

Homies Yoga | Brooklyn, New York

Concept:

A yoga studio that is as much about community as it is about just being the spot you do yoga and leave to live the rest of your life.

Ethos:
built on unconditional love, radical acceptance and common sense.

Come, chill, be an adult - go do cool things.

Why it was created:

-Banal when studios “sell” events and class offerings at the end of class when all blessed out and open- makes you close back up.

This is the anti-selling culture. If you want to get something, get it. It doesn’t need to be a conversation or a pitch.

Homies will have workshops, events, etc – if you want to participate, the info will be kept in one place - the app. It’s your call to seek the info/experience.

The "soho house of yoga", have people come by word of mouth, because they curate the own life experiences to yield their current mood, vibe and thus their output into the world. They come to homies because they are interested in the experience but know its not the only thing that matters to them.

No basics- everyone is respectful and all waves of life- especially those who work in industry. – No suits or judgement because they chose a non-traditional path.

The whole concept is surrounding this market of people who do not work 9-5’s.

The classes- the times and the class vibe is designed to cater to those with industry schedule- not just prenatal yoga at 12 on a Tuesday.

Homies Manifesto:

Homies yoga is a no bullshit, counter culture yoga est. It's not where you come to hit on girls or prove to anyone that you can do scorpion.

It's a REAL yoga and place, with instructors that have admirable education and vibes to give. It's purest yoga, but no attitude or ego. We just appreciate the best and can distinguish the disguise of facade. We are not here to sell you on yoga or anything else. You're here solely because you chose to be. There are no sales pitches after class. You know where to find further education or info if you need it. It's all in one place. You're an adult, you can find it. No one will be rude to your or accept rudeness. No one will judge you or accept judgement. You don't have to say hi if you don't want to say hi. Friendly arguments and dissent are okay.

Do your thing. Do yoga. Leave and make the world cooler.

It's designed for people who have never paid taxes, understand feast/famine in the name of living a creative life as a prosumer. World citizens who understand they have accolades and much more to give the world at any age. People with multiple careers in opposing industries, all in one lifetime.

Peoples who's creative minds never rest and may need on a yoga class at 3 on a Tuesday- sorry we all don't work 9-5's. Wait no we're not. We make all the beautiful things you buy to fill your life with meaning.

Homies is the kind "fuck you." The feeling of liberation from hegemony to the tune of unapologetically being oneself.

There is no hype here. Only excitement for what our PEERS are working on next. Collab or don't. We don't care. Clean up after yourself bc no one will tell you to. You just won't be asked to join again. Duh.

Homies is for the creative director, the tattooer, the baby momma's, the professor, the guitarist, the ethical journalist, the addict. The people who were told their creative choice would ruin their life and guess what, it didn't. It made them an Original.
